Is Shrimp safe for dogs?

Safe for dogs

Yes — cooked, plain, fully shelled and deveined prawns are a safe treat in moderation. Never raw.

Cooked prawns (shrimp) are safe for dogs in moderation and offer lean protein along with nutrients like vitamin B12. Serve them fully cooked, plain and unseasoned — no salt, butter, garlic or oil — and remove the shell, tail, head and vein completely, as these are a choking and obstruction hazard. Never feed raw prawns: like other raw shellfish, they can harbour harmful bacteria and parasites. Because they are relatively rich, offer only a small number as an occasional treat and introduce them gradually to check for any sensitivity.
