2-minute quiz
Which dog breed is right for me?
Six quick questions about your life — and we’ll match you to the breeds that fit, scored against real temperament, energy, and size data.
Where will your dog live?
Choosing the right breed
The happiest matches usually come down to honesty about two things: how much exercise you can realistically give, and how much space you have. A high-energy working breed in a quiet apartment is a recipe for a frustrated dog — and a frustrated owner. Get those right, and most other traits can be shaped with training and patience.
Use your matches as a shortlist, then dig into each breed’s full guide, meet a few dogs in person, and check local shelters and rescues — purebred and mixed dogs alike are waiting for homes.
FAQ
How does the dog breed selector work?
You answer six quick questions about your living space, activity level, experience, children, other pets, and shedding tolerance. Each answer is scored against breed traits — size, energy, trainability, friendliness, and grooming — to surface the breeds that best fit your lifestyle.
Is the quiz a guarantee I’ll get along with that breed?
No — it’s a starting point, not a prescription. Every dog is an individual shaped by training, socialisation, and personality. Use your matches as a shortlist to research further, meet dogs in person, and talk to breeders, shelters, or a vet.
Should I adopt or buy?
Many wonderful dogs — purebred and mixed — are waiting in shelters and breed-specific rescues. Whatever your match, it’s always worth checking local rescues first. Mixed-breed dogs often combine the best of several breeds.
What if my top match isn’t practical for me?
Look at your runners-up, and weigh the deal-breakers: exercise needs and space are the hardest to compromise on. A lower-energy breed in the right size will almost always be a happier fit than a high-energy dog you can’t keep busy.
