Is Raisins safe for dogs?

Raisins (dried grapes) can cause acute kidney failure in dogs.

Raisins are dried grapes and carry the same acute kidney failure risk. The concentrated nature of raisins means a smaller quantity is dangerous compared to fresh grapes. Even a small box of raisins can be fatal to a small dog.

Symptoms to watch for

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Decreased urination
