Safety guide

Is Dark chocolate safe for dogs?

Toxic — emergency

Dark chocolate has very high theobromine levels and is extremely toxic to dogs.

Dark chocolate contains significantly more theobromine than milk or white chocolate. Even small amounts can be fatal to dogs. The darker and more bitter the chocolate, the more dangerous it is. Baking chocolate (100% cocoa) is the most toxic form.
