Is Ibuprofen safe for dogs?

Ibuprofen (Advil, Nurofen) is highly toxic to dogs and causes kidney failure.

Even one regular-strength ibuprofen tablet can cause serious toxicity in a small dog. It causes stomach ulcers, intestinal bleeding, and kidney or liver failure. Never give human pain medication to your dog.

Symptoms to watch for

  • Vomiting (possibly bloody)
  • Diarrhoea
  • Lethargy
  • Abdominal pain
  • Seizures
