Safety guide
Is Peanuts safe for dogs?
Yes — plain, unsalted, shelled peanuts are safe in small amounts. Keep them an occasional treat, as they are high in fat.
Plain, dry-roasted or raw, unsalted, shelled peanuts are safe for most dogs in small amounts. They're high in fat, though, so they should stay an occasional treat rather than a regular snack — too much fat can lead to stomach upset or pancreatitis. Avoid salted, honey-roasted or flavoured peanuts, and don't give the shells, which can cause choking or digestive blockages. (Note that peanuts are legumes, not true tree nuts, which is why they're better tolerated than most nuts.)
