Is Kiwi safe for dogs?

Safe for dogs

Yes — peeled kiwi flesh is safe for dogs in moderation.

Kiwi flesh is non-toxic and offers vitamin C, potassium and fibre, so a few small pieces make a fine occasional treat. Peel the fruit and cut it into bite-sized chunks — the skin is tough and can be a choking or digestive irritant, particularly for small dogs. Kiwi is high in fibre and natural sugar, so too much can lead to loose stools.

Symptoms to watch for

  • Loose stools
  • Mild stomach upset
