Meet the Poodle
Behind the elegant haircut is one of the smartest, most trainable breeds there is. Poodles come in Standard, Miniature, and Toy sizes, and all share keen intelligence, athleticism, and a low-shedding coat that suits many allergy-conscious homes.
Temperament & personality
Poodles are eager, sensitive, and quick to learn — they thrive on training and games and bore easily without them. They are devoted to their families and generally good with children and other pets.
Exercise & grooming
All sizes need daily exercise and mental work. The curly coat does not shed much but requires regular professional grooming (every 4–6 weeks) and brushing in between to prevent matting.
Health to watch
Generally long-lived. Watch for hip dysplasia (Standards), eye disorders, and bloat in larger Poodles. Health-tested parents and routine care go a long way.
Breed is a guide, not a guarantee — every dog is an individual. For anything specific to your dog, your vet is the best source.
