Meet the Bulldog
The Bulldog is a thick-set, low-slung dog known for its wrinkled face, pushed-in nose, and famously laid-back temperament. Once bred for bull-baiting, today’s Bulldog is a docile, affectionate companion happiest lounging with its family.
Temperament & personality
Bulldogs are calm, dependable, and notably good with children — friendly and patient rather than excitable. They can be stubborn, so gentle, consistent, reward-based training works best.
Exercise & grooming
Modest exercise suits them — short walks and play, kept away from heat. Their facial folds need regular cleaning to prevent infection, and their flat faces mean they overheat dangerously easily.
Health to watch
A brachycephalic breed prone to breathing problems, skin-fold infections, hip issues, and heat sensitivity. Choose a responsible breeder and keep them cool and lean.
Breed is a guide, not a guarantee — every dog is an individual. For anything specific to your dog, your vet is the best source.
